SCHOOL BOARD2018-2019 - Social Studies and Gifted and/or Highly Achieving Students Program Review

Read more at... https://www.pinerichland.org/Page/8302 You can view the recommendations and report: PDF Version or Interactive Version June 2017 - Science Department Program Review Following an in-depth review of the science programs, the District has recommended several new initiatives to the School Board, including increased time for science instruction in 6th grade, a compacted/extended curriculum for 8th grade students, and development of additional courses and AP classes at the High School. November 2016 - Academic Achievement Report The PRSD 2016 Academic Achievement Report contains detailed information about student performance in K-12 on standardized tests during the 2015-2016 school year, including the PSSA, SAT, ACT and Advanced Placement tests. The data also reveals levels of achievement, trends, and growth. See the full Report here and a presentation about the Report here. October 2016 - K-6 Program Overview PRSD administrators provided an overview of the educational program and key initiatives at the grades K - 3 and 4 - 6 levels (i.e., Hance, Richland, Wexford, and Eden Hall). The presentation includes curriculum options and GATE programming. See the presentation HERE. March 2016 - Gifted Evaluation Model PRSD has made progress on two goals: first, to research and create a district model and second, to review the identification process. See the presentation to the Student Services Committee Meeting here. January 2016 - Strategic Plan Gifted Program Update PRSD is working on two goals relative to gifted education this spring. First, there will be a review of the process for identifying students for gifted education services. Second, PRSD will create a district model using the model of multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) to guide gifted education services. The MTSS model (also known as RTII) is already in place for implementing interventions in English Language Arts and is being expanded this year to include math interventions. November 2015 - PRSD Comprehensive Plan: PRSD is required to submit a Comprehensive Plan to the PA Department of Education by November 30, 2015. The Plan includes a special section relative to programming for gifted students (see details on p. 29 of the plan here). October 26, 2015 School Board Meeting: The Board had an extensive discussion about the Strategic Plan and identification of gifted students.
